Letoya interview with Afro.com
by LeToyaNews on Sep.21, 2009, under PRESS

Singer, songwriter and rookie actress LeToya Luckett, formerly of bestselling girl group Destiny’s Child, recently stopped by retailer DTLR in the Mall at Prince George’s to promote the release of her sophomore album Lady Love.
The album is a mixture of emotional, finger-wagging songs that declare the singer’s independence and unwavering self-esteem.
Standout cuts on the 15- track album include “Not Anymore,” “Lazy,” “Don’t Need U” and the feisty lead single, “She Ain’t Got,” where Luckett playfully tells a cheating boyfriend no other woman will ever compare to her.
Lady Love presents a new, stronger side of the Texas native. Where her first album LeToya showcased the singer as a forlorn lover eager to please her mate, her August release debuts a more defiant, grownup woman with a new perspective on life and love.
“You have to love yourself, you can’t be selfish, but a lot of time we find ourselves in relationships giving everything to the point that we don’t have anything to give back to ourselves,” said Luckett in an exclusive interview with the AFRO.
“It can get to the point where we don’t know how to receive because we are so used to giving. I also learned that you don’t have to be so emotional. Sometimes women are just ready to fight about everything.”
As part of her own evolution into womanhood, the 28-year-old vocalist said reflecting on her past breakups, make-ups and tears has helped enrich her music and her personal life.
“It helped a lot,” she said of reliving her most painful experiences. “I was able to get into that head space again. I remember being in the studio and thinking about the past and actually feeling my heart break all over again. But I was happy at the same time because those moments are what shaped me as a lady, that’s actually why I called my album Lady Love.”

We love her personality! She was asked about her dreams, Michael Jackson, her second album, her Kissable Couture “Lady Love” lipgloss. Lol at her when she talks about her movies. Making sure to get that plug in there…

LeToya has an 8 pages feature on this summer’s Rap-Up Magazine issue. Here is the photoshoot exclusively brought to you by LeToya News Network “We’re on it!”. What can we say? Well she looks FABULOUS. We’re LOVING her swag and this new style she’s bringing with this era. She works dem sexy legs with these fantastic dresses. Yummy! The new and sassy LeToya is here and is SLAYING all dem other bitches currently in this business. Mainstream medias (including NYC’s Hate 97) need to get that ASAP.
Now on another note where’s the interview? Also explain me why Rick Ross “Who???” And Flopping ass Ciara got the cover? I mean Cici’s last album only sold a ridiculous 80,000 copies of her album and we’re not sure if she qualifies yet for double dust certification as we’ve been told that 80,000 is actually the amount of shipped copies and not actually sold. So if that’s all she can sell what makes Rap-up think that she will help sell their magazine? I mean her era is over. Why bother? But I’ll give her that she’s smart for getting some of Devin Lazerine’s dick. (Rap-Up’s editor in chief). Can’t knock her hussle I’d do the same thing if i could sing…humhum… I mean…Dance, right.
By the way both girls were at the Rap-up’s release party and we haven’t seen any pictures of both of ‘em together. They use to be close friends. What happened?
Another faux-pas from Rap-Up for this same issue is they have a page where they listed the “celebrities must follow” on twitter. Mariah: check, Ciara: check, Wackie: check, Guestlove “who da hell is that?”: check, Kid Sister HUH? (Rap-up tryna hook-up some friends I guess), Sean “boring and repetitive LETS GO tweets” Combs: Check, etc… But their supposebly supporting ass (ya know how rap-up.com brings y’all these “LETOYA EXCLUSIVES” all the time) didn’t bother mentioning LeToya at all. Bastards!! lol. Anyway we’ll tell you ourselves at LNN: and follow LeToya Luckett on twitter www.twitter.com/letoyaluckett . She’s a very interesting person to follow. You’ll learn a lot about life.
Anyway go pick up that edition of Rap-up for a complete hard copy of the shoot. Trust us it’s better than just seeing them on a computer screen. Plus we don’t want Rap-up to end up like Vibe Magazine, right?….
