YOU MUST REGRET THE DAY THAT YOU LEFT HER!

Hey yall bloggers who think you’ve heard the final version of “Regret”. You haven’t. read this review to get the deal.

So Toya sold me on “Regret” after I’ve seen her late acapella performances she gave at various locations. She had so much swag and attitude that she caught my attention. She was feeling that shit. And her mentioning “Y’all know who I’m talking about” (Slim Thug) spiced it up for me. At first I wasn’t really a fan of it but it definitely grew on me. I absolutely can relate to it  as I have at least one different ex/booty call who’s “tryna get back – get back” with me every week. (and actually another one right now as I’m typing this lol). So now I have this song to back me up.

Yes I was one of the people who said it sounded like “Ghetto” from Kelly Rowland. But that’s because you have three types of people when it comes to listen to a song for the first time. First you have those who only care about the beat. Then those who care about the lyrics and those who care about the vocals. I’m in category one. So when I heard the beat I was like well ‘It’s cool” but you know what? After a few listen I realized it was not about the beat. It’s about everything else! LeToya straight murdered her former bandmate’s version. And I shoudn’t say “version” because besides having a similar beat the comparison stops here.  KR’s song is lame/boring/doesn’t make any sense at all but LeToya’s has so much swag and meaning into it. I can’t wait for a remix with a different beat to come out so it can show that LeToya’s song has nothing to do with KR’s.

By not being the first single “Regret” missed it’s chance to be second. “Regret” should have been the first instead of Terry Ross’s (LeToya’s manager) choice “Not Anymore”. The latest is not doing bad but why settle for a #10 hit when you can get a #1 hit. “Regret” as a comeback song wou’dve made it to number one easily but not as a second single since everybody was waiting from an uptempto from her. But we’re ain’t gonna deal with “should’ve” and “would’ve” cause we can’t come back in the past. We have to deal with the present.

Now I’m torn between releasing this song as the third single (because it has so much hype and everyone seems to love it) or have it fourth after “Good To Me”. Good to me is such an AMAZING MOTHAFUCKING song. So I don’t know. I guess fans will vote again when the album is released and get to hear it so they can judge for themselves.

To come back to the song itself “Regret” has not only one catchy hook. (“You must regret the day that you leeeft me!”).  It has two (“Still tryna get back, get back, still tryna get back with me owwoh!) which makes it a garanteed hit. The lyrics are just top notch from beginning to end, (“Poppin tags is a thing of the past, you lost everything you had chasing them scallywags” — >that alone just made it for me)

Also her vocals sound amazing on there. There is no belting or something but it’s not needed for a song like that. She’s got other songs on the album with these divaesque belting shit which will fullfill your need if that’s what you hoping for. That sexyness/bitchyness/swag is what a song like “Regret” needs and it’s what it got. Her tone of voice is just beautiful in this.

Hype on this song is very big on the internet as I’m seing everybody tweeting/blogging great feedbacks about it.

Ludacris add’s a nice touch to it by being on her side when usually you would expect that a rapper would play a role against her. Good move.

Now I have two versions of the song. (well 3 if you count that “LeToyaNews exlusive” version lol). One has Ludacris without a bridge and the other one has a bridge and no Ludacris. I really hope they will BOTH appear on the very final version. But I’m scared it will get the same treatment as “All eyes On Me” when she cut her bridge to have Paul Wall instead. So in the lyrics below I’m assuming both will be kept. *Crossing fingers.

Conclusion. Strong lyrics, content, appealing vocals, swag and catchyness of the song makes it a classic and a hit in the making. EVERYBODY can relate to this song and soon (if not already) you will see yourself singing “YOU MUST REGRET THE DAY THAT YOU LEFT ME”!

All her fans (including me) were still wishing that she wouldve pushed up/pushed back her album’s release date. That could’ve garantee her a consecutive #1 album in the country. But now that she’s been confirming August 25 everywhere  (including to major medias like Reuters; video below) we can almost say that she’ll stick to this date. I’m still praying that she won’t. Or that Mariah will change hers (which I doubt). I mean nobody big is releasing something august 18 or even 11.

Well I say everything happen for a reason and if she gotta be that chick who topped the legendary Mariah Carey then let it be it. She would get so much respect if she accomplishes that. You might be laughin as I’m saying this but you never know what God has planned for us. She’s been fighting for the longest and I’m sure she will be rewarded for it. Life can’t be that much unfair. Imagine if she were to beat Mariah. I’m wondering what people would say. Especially haters like Hot 97. Can’t stand this radio btw. They only work with payola and have their little favorites. I live in New York and I rather listen to Power 105.1.

Anyway competition wasn’t easy her first time around as she earned a #1 album against that famous compilation “Now 21″ AND superproducer Pharrel Williams who was a MTV favorite.

Hell even the Pussycat Dolls girls don’t get their names credited. I see a lot of them mentioning “LeToya and The Twinz” in their youtube description. I’m like WTF! Do you see Beyonce fans having ‘Beyonce with Taniqua and Nene”? Nah the only time when Beyonce was mentioned with other people was “Beyonce featuring Destiny’s Child” and that’s only if those other bitches were actually given the chance to be mentioned. Like I’ve had people telling me “I heard LeToya is in a new group called “The Twinz”. I’m like “WHATTT?! wait a minute…”
I’ll give credit to these little twins for succeeding at getting a little shine by creating these little backstage videos which generated interest in them. Don’t wanna knock their hussle but I must say THIS NEEDS TO STOP. You can’t be using LeToya’s name anymore. I DONT WANT IT ANYMORE! LeToya ain’t in a group no more. This ain’t Destiny’s Child. Amerie is releasing her mixtape called “The future of R&B” and have LeToya on it. I’m not sure if she cleared the rights to use Letoya’s song on it. But if not she can consider herself sued with Capitol Records’s lawyers after her ass…

Kinda funny that she’s calling her mixtape “The future of R&B” when she’s herself “The past of R&B”. I don’t think that’s a good move from her to try to come back to the scene right now since she kinda look alike with LeToya. I say just wait another year or so. This industry is about visuals and if you’re too similar to another artist the baddest bitch wins. And of course there is no doubt in this case. We all know who sings “She Ain’t Got Shit On Me!” right. LeToya already showed dem hoes who was that bitch 3 years ago when Mila J had a song similar too Torn she got sent right back into the obscurity. (By the way is that how you spell her name? Just asking cause I know I myself DESPISE people mispelling LeToya’s name. Like you see them on twitter I quote “@letoyaluckett hey la toiya i luv u i’m ur #1 fan!” I’m like bitch 1) u ain’t her #1 fan. I AM her NUMBER ONE fan. 2) you was able to spell @letoyaluckett right? so why the hell can’t u spell it right in your message?!)

I’m also noticing the mixtape has Beyonce”s new track “Ice Cream truck”. So let me tell you something. I’m one of the earliest Destiny’s Child fan. Meaning I am in love with both baddest bitches of the game Beyonce AND LeToya. But sorry Bey I gotta warn people on this: This new song  is just wacktastic. I have yet to hear one wack track from LeToya though.
