Petition update: over 750 signatures total so far

by ControlFreak on Sep.29, 2009, under NEWS, OPERATION REGRET

Over 750 People total have signed one of the LeToya petitions so far.

LeToya’s fanbase couldn’t get together and settle. So yeah awkwardly we have 4 different petitions going on. One being started after one was already around. We decided to promote the first one that was created and sent to us as well as the first  petitiononline one (for those who don’t have twitter) and stick with them. The twitition one already had 80 signatures at the time but for some obscure reason some other fan decided to create their own, spreading out false rumors on their site that only theirs counted for the label when obviously it’s not the case. We didn’t understand why they wanted to restart from scratch after all the efforts fans already made to get the first 80. Anyway they all support LeToya and that’s all that matters in the end.

Here are are comments you can find on petitiononline : (Go tell Capitol what’s in your mind too if you haven’t already!)

ojie Imoloame: Well, I am highly disappointed in Capitol records for the rubbish work they are doing for their artist.

Anthony King-welsh: How can a artist who had a debut album go number 1 and not get any real promotion with the sophmore CD. This is poor i got the album and its so much better and a step upwards for LeToya and she being made to drown. What would she do if she didn’t promote herself? Come on label give the fans something!!

Alex: WAKE UP CRAPITOL!!!

arnelle jackson: That is not fair toya cd is the bomb yall need to be ashamed of your self for leaving her high and dry like that

denecchi jackson: Letoya’s new cd is HOT and it is a true injustice that she is not receiving the level of promotion needed to make the cd a winner. So many people did not even know about her new album. PLEASE Capitol/EMI support her as an artist! Every artist that’s “hot” is not delivering this quality of music. We need the quality of music the Letoya is delivering, please do not let this album fall through the cracks!!!!!!

Rhonda Lewis: Capitol Records really needs to step their promo of letoya luckett up. If not for her promoting this album no one would know about it. Capitol Records has barely done if anything at all to promo letoya’s lady love album. You should be ashamed of yourselves and shouldn’t be allowed to call yourselves a record lable. Poor album sales is no excuse you should be able to use since your lable has not put in the work to ensure it’s success, I am going to need you to step your promo game up by like 10,000\% or release this phenomenal artist from your sorry label so she can persue other avenues to get her music out .

Matthew Weir: EMI…You are rubbish, Letoya deserves better.

Shanita Daniels: I am extremely hurt because the right singles were not chosen and if you want return on an album you have to be willing to invest. Step outside of the box and turn this album around. Perfect example i remember when rihanna good g g bad album dropped with umbrella the album sucked but the single was fire. She wasnt as as she is now, and the word was that her album sucked. I agree I bought the original album. the label revamped added 5 new songs and the REST IS HISTORY. please dont sleep on this album or this artist because there is tons of money to be made.

Kerby: Capitol you have fallen from grace. LeToya Luckett LADY LOVE is one of the best RNB albums to come out in the year 2009 and yet you do not even show support to such a magnificent artist. It is really a da** shame Capitol would support music about “kissing a girl” like Katy Perry. Must LeToya be white and show affection to the same sex to have full support from her own record label? LeToya is an exceptional artist who deserve to shine like star she is.

G: Capitol I must say there is vast difference between promotions from LeToya’s first to her current offering. We the fans are highly dissapointed that you as a record label did not give your artist LeToya the support that she rightly deserves. With her first album LeToya was EVERYWHERE (Ellen, Tyra, 106, Letterman, Jay Leno, etc.)! This time around my girl LeToya is putting Capitol to shame by going out there promoting her ish on Twitter ALONE without your support. SHAME ON YOU!!!

kim: Capitol Records, you guys need to step up the promo! LeToya is a talented artist that deserves support from her record label. The fans have done sooo much to push this album. We even made the single, “Regret” become #20 on the R&B charts. Please promote this wonderful and talented artist. Thank you.

Cody Mitchell: THIS CD IS BEYOND GREAT…HER VOCALS HAVE IMPROVED. LETOYA IS AN ARTIST WHO ACTUALLY SHOWED GROWTH FROM THE 1ST ALBUM TO THE 2ND. AND IT DESERVES TO BE PROMOTED AS SUCH. I CAN NAME 5 TO 8 SONGS ALONE THAT DESERVE SINGLE TREATMENT (WITH A VIDEO!)

Chianti primus: LeToya Is Very Talented & She Needs To Be Promoted Better.

Demond Welker: This is a VERY VERY good album that DESERVES to be heard by the public! Give it chance!

Steve: GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER CAPITOL! ARTISTS GET OUT WHAT THE LABELS PUT IN

Diego: please lady love is a diamond promote more this cd letoya is a big singer

Fans come to Letoya’s rescue against Capitol Records

by thisisme on Sep.21, 2009, under NEWS, OPERATION REGRET

Capitol Records decided to stop the funding of the “Lady Love” project. We all know the story. Now LeToya fans decided to start a petition to save the project:

Dear Capitol Records/ EMI Music,

We, the fans of LeToya Luckett believe she is a master at her craft. Over the past three years, her vocals and stage presence have greatly improved. Most artists these days do not evolve as she has, which shows how extremely dedicated she is. She has so much potential and has our full support to achieve ultimate success and she needs yours as well.

LeToya fans are EXTREMELY disappointed with the way you have been treating her and her “Lady Love” album thus far. We believe that she has proven she deserves the same promotion as her label mates e.g. Katy Perry. We fully understand that her first two singles did not push this album as we had all hoped, but with the lackadaisical promotion they were given we are not surprised. However, the third single, “Regret” featuring Ludacris, has already shown it has the potential to become her next smash hit single. We, the fans, have pushed this song into an enviable top 20 position without your support, but top 10, top 5 and even the big 1 can happen, but we need your backing.

We request that you provide, at the very least, the same promotion to that which her debut album received e.g. more than two or three TV performances, that send Regret for radio ads be given an official add date to build upon the strong airplay performance we have started, and provide LeToya with the budget reflective of a Grammy award winning, Platinum selling artist, with two #1 albums to her credit , so a successful “Regret” video can be produced and distributed. We understand that money does not grow on trees, and so far the album has not returned all of your investment, but we know believe that “Regret” can will change all of that with you your fully renewed support.

Thank you for reading,

LeToya fans, and people who love real R&B music

SIGN THE ONLINE PETITION  HERE AND FOR THOSE WHO DON’T HAVE TWITTER  HERE

Hopefully Capitol Records wakes up when they realize how much of a dedicated fan base she has… They need to inject money into this project and we need a “Regret” video ASAP!

FINAL NUMBERS: LETOYA SOLD 33,000 COPIES, ENTERS AT #12 ON BILLBOARD HOT 100

by LeToyaNews on Sep.02, 2009, under NEWS

The lone Rap act still in the Top 10 this week was California’s Black Eyed Peas. Quite distant from their Ruthless Records roots on The E.N.D. , Interscope’s other big money-maker is just one week away from Rap’s second platinum plaque handed out to 2009 releases. Label-mate Eminem sank to #28 with his Relapse, an album that may reach 1.5 million units sold before October.

This week’s charts welcomed urban newcomers. LeToya Luckett released her second solo album, Lady Love. The Capitol Records release debuted at #12, with 33,000 first week units sold. Ludacris and MIMS guest on the release. Queen Latifah’s first Rap release in 11 years debuted inside the Top 25. Released independently on her famed ’90s imprint Flavor Unit, Latifah’s Persona featured an album almost entirely produced by Florida hit-makers Cool & Dre. The other debut release came from Alternative emcee Matisyahu. The third album from the West Chester, Pennsylvania native focuses more on his Reggae influence, boasting production from Sly & Robbie.

Fabolous fell 13 slots with Loso’s Way. With strong radio play, the Def Jam album likely passes the 200,000 mark next week. Twista’s Category F5 continues to prove to be a success for both the Chicago veteran and EMI Records. Released independently, with the strong distribution, the effort is similar to the machinery coming with Raekwon’s highly-touted Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 album coming later this month.

LeToya interview with Baller Alert

by thisisme on Aug.28, 2009, under INTERVIEWS, PRESS

Baller Alert

Gone are the days of Destiny’s Child, however with no pun intended, she is a SURVIVOR. Growing in an industry that changes rapidly like the tide, LeToya has had her shares of facing adversity. Having been in the background for years, she is finally the captain of her ship & is at the forefront of a remarkable career, as a soloist. She was named best new artist in 2006 with her self-titled debut Letoya which topped the charts with certified platinum status.

Having released her sophomore album Lady Love just days ago, LeToya has been busy on the road doing the much needed promotion to make this yet another success story. However, despite such a rigorous & hectic schedule she was able to catch up with yours truly to discuss it all.

Check out our exclusive conversation below:

BA: Hey LeToya, how are you?

LL: Hey what’s goin’ on! How are you?

BA: I’m great! On behalf of balleralert.com I graciously thank you for this interview today.

LL: Oh, you know what, its a pleasure. It is a pleasure girl.

BA: First off, congratulations on releasing your sophomore release, Lady Love, which I might add is a smash.

LL: (emphatically) Thank You!!! You like it?!?!

BA: Liking would be an understatement, I love it.

LL: Thank you so much, thank you girl! Hard work, long time coming, a long time coming. Whoo Jesus!

BA: I can believe it. Where did you draw your inspiration for this album?

LL: Different places, different experiences. Relationships I had been in. You know you would have girl talk with your homies, some of their experiences, I’d be like girl that’s a song, Jesus. You know that’s kinda where I drew inspiration from. My brother too. You know guys go through things too. I wanted to make an album that appealed to both sexes, that they both could relate to & I was blessed to have worked with some great writers & producers who were on the same track as me, you know that shared & understood my same vision.

BA: Why Lady Love, what’s the premise behind that?

LL: Lady Love was a nickname that we turned into a song. We were just having fun just acting stupid one day. The day after we recorded the song we looked on wikipedia &somebody was like like look out for LeToya’s new album “Lady Love” and we like, huhh?!?! People didn’t even know about the song & they kept talking about it and I was like one day, we’re going to go with this, so that’s why I decided to keep it as the title.

BA: Now your debut album self-titled album went platinum, how do you feel you’ve grown since then lyrically & vocally since then in regards to your sophomore release?

LL: I’ve grown a lot. I’m definitely comfortable in my skin & I’m not afraid to speak my mind & be me. Not afraid to take chances. I think that’s what I was going through before, you know playing it safe. That’s what its about, creative freedom & I just used it to my advantage with this album.

BA: I feel that. Now of the 16 tracks on the album which is your favorite & why?
