[LET'S TALK] DEAR LETOYA, HERE ARE 20 THINGS YOU SHOULD DO IN 2011
by COMMON on Feb.26, 2011, under LETOYANEWS FEATURES
2011 that is. The year of LeToya’s comeback. After the “Lady Love” era has been mishandled we hope that this time around things will be taken care of properly and that LeToya will get the shine she deserves. Tired of her being the underrated underdog. Let me share with you and LeToya (I know you’re reading this
) things I want her to do in 2011 for the new era to be a SUCCESS.
1. GOOD MUSIC
This is an easy one. While we’re all aware that today’s music is just horrible, I know I can trust LeToya to deliver great quality music. I just hope she doesn’t jump on the electro bandwagon. She needs to stay AWAY from it. (I’m fine with Dance remixes though). She needs to keep it urban pop. I don’t mind a few pure pop songs like “She Aint Got”.
Also I like how she’s using her voice in “Regret” and ‘Single”. Soft and Confident. She found her niche right there so I hope to hear her singing that way more.
I hope the new album will have five uptempos (3 urbans and 2 pops), five midtempos, 2 power ballads and 2 sex songs. All R&B, UrbanPop and I could see her trying some Soul (Jazmine Sullivan/Melanie Fiona type, not the whole album though, Toya is a contemporary R&B artist not Soul)
Uptempos
[POLL] LATOYA? LETOYA WHO? OR LETOYA LUCKETT?
by COMMON on Jan.26, 2011, under LETOYANEWS FEATURES, MISC.

You know how people tend to remove female singers’s last name. You have those that came out with a last name but people tend to just call them by their first name: Mariah, Janet, Britney, Christina, Keri, etc… You already know that it’s Carey, Jackson, Spears, Aguilera and Hilson.
You have those that came out without a last name but we all know what it is: Brandy (Norwood), Beyonce (Knowles), Ciara (Harris), Ashanti (Douglas), Rihanna (Fenty) and so on.
And then you have LeToya. LeToya LeToya hmmm. The girl was known in Destiny’s child as “LeToya” and then she came out as a solo artist as “LeToya”. But for some reason people not only love to misspell it “Latoya” or “La Toya” but 90% of the time they will add her last name “Luckett” (Usually misspelled as Tuckett, Bucket, Lockett, Lucket or Luckette). So on twitter you’ll come across to a lot of something like “OMG I’m totally in love with this Good To Me song by La toyah Tokkette”. (True story!). And we all know that one case when Wireimage called her “Gloria Tucket”. If there was an award for most misspelled artist’s name in history she would definitely win it hands down.
MY DREAM LETOYA CONCERT
by COMMON on Jan.05, 2011, under LETOYANEWS FEATURES

We always see LeToya singing about 2 to maximum 5 songs whenever she’s out performing. I want to hear proper real performances of many of her songs that didn’t get that treatment. “Lazy”, “Over”, “Hey Fella”, “Obvious”, “Good To Me”, “Dont Need you”, “I Need A U”, “Say My Name”, etc. Rings a bell? She must be one of the few artists who dont take advantage of their catalog. Trey Songz became so big because all he’s been doing is touring, touring and touring. Something we don’t see LeToya do besides a few performances here and there.
I want a REAL 5 star two-hour concert from LeToya. Something very visual like superstars like Usher, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, Madonna, Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys, etc… do. I can picture LeToya reading this and thinking right now: “WTF I’m not of the caliber of these artists.” Yes girl YOU ARE! You are what you believe you are. If you don’t believe it yourself first you never will be. What do you think made Kanye West, Lady Gaga and all the artists mentioned above so successful? They don’t underestimate themselves. Sometimes I feel like only her fans see how much of a star she is and she can be. She and the people around her don’t realize how much HUGE potential she has. Trust me I don’t stan for wack artists and if I stan for LeToya there is a reason.
LAST POST OF 2010! THE YEAR IN REVIEW
by COMMON on Dec.31, 2010, under LETOYANEWS FEATURES

Phew this has been a busy year. Even though LeToya didn’t release new music (because she’s been recording in the studio) she stayed on everybody’s tongue. Between a new endorsement deal with Luster, 2 movies released (Being the star of “Preacher’s Kid” and a role in “Killers” with Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl), another film and show shot (“From the Rough” with Taraji P Henson & Tom Felton + an HBO series) and killing dem red carpets Toya has definitely made a name for herself.
The reunion with Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland and the new friendship found in Michelle Williams were also exciting moments. I still remember when LeToya fans used to complain back in the days with the lack of communication, everything was so secretive and she was just disappearing. All that have changed in 2010 with the existence of Twitter, Ustream and LeToyaNews. LeToya is actively taking advantage of these new services to keep the fans posted on what’s going on…. and we love it.
What are your favorite LeToya 2010 memories?
Below is the TOP 50 most read LeToyaNews posts in 2010. Some were posted earlier but were checked throughout 2010. You’ll notice that people are obsessed with her relationship status.

LETOYA NEW ERA SOON TO START….. HAIR WE GO AGAIN!
by COMMON on Dec.30, 2010, under LETOYANEWS FEATURES, MISC.

LeToya is about to have her comeback in the music scene soon. New era means new image/new hairstyle. Even though I realize LeToya is trying to please people by switching it up, one of the #1 complain I still hear the most is that LeToya is “always rocking the same hairstyle”.
Actually she’s got 3 signature hairstyles. She’s got the “Torn/She Ain’t Got hair” (click on it to see), the straight hair a la Aaliyah (my favorite) and she’s got that horrendous curly hair (please don’t do this one ever again). She also had that Victoria Beckham hair during the Lady Love era. I also loved the big hair a la black barbie/black Aubrey Oday she had on Diddy’s video.
WHERE MY 2 MILLION AND A HALF AT?! EMI AND YOUTUBE NEED TO GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER!
by COMMON on Dec.11, 2010, under LETOYANEWS FEATURES
I received several emails bringing this to my attention and I think it’s worth addressing. LeToya’s video count views on YouTube went dramatically down making her look like a new wannabe artist with little success. Her video “Not Anymore” for example went from about 2 Million and a half views to a ridiculous 106,000. A mess! Let me explain to you what happened…
15 BEST & WORSE ALBUMS OF 2009
by COMMON on Dec.18, 2009, under LETOYANEWS FEATURES
Christmas is coming. Everybody I know will get a copy of “Lady Love”. (I bought an extra 15 copies and if you a REAL fan you should do the same). If you want to add other albums to your xmas packs and you don’t know what to pick, I made the research for you to help you with your choice.
2009 was the WORSE in music. Autotune destroying the airwaves, bad music and bad album sales. I CAN NOT listen to the radio no more! BUT still a few good albums came out.
Here is from a LeToya’s fan perspective the best and worse in music for the year of 2009.
15 BEST ALBUMS OF 2009

#15. MARIAH CAREY: Memoirs of an imperfect angel 2.8/5
Biggest disappointment of the year
Mariah Carey failed to impress this year. I like the old school vibe on some songs but something is just missing from that album to make it as magic as her previous ones. Still a cool album but not her best. (PS: I am a Mariah lamb)
Best tracks: “The impossible”, “It’s a wrap”, “Up out my face”.
LISTEN HERE

#14 TIMBALAND: Shock Value II 3/5
This album as a whole is not as good as “Shock Value 1″ (Where’s the ol Timbaland!!?) but there are a few very good songs: “Tomorrow in the bottle”, “Ease Off the liquor”.

#13. CIARA: Fantasy Ride 3/5
Over-promoted album of the year (with no results)
I have a love/hate type of relationship with Ciara. By the time that album was released I was already tired of it since 95% of it leaked months before. The three main singles were really bad. (in a bad way). “Go Girl” had a hot video but the track just plainly sucked, “Never Ever” was aite. Love sex magic was being played only because of Justin Timberlake. It sounded like a reject from his own album “Futuresex, Lovesounds”. Hell even Britney Spears declined to record the song. I’m just shocked that she got a Grammy nomination for it. (thank you Justin). I wish LeToya had 1/10 of the promotion Ciara is getting from Jive. The label is putting millions of dollars on her, getting her to open for Britney Spears, Get her endorsement deals, etc…. They surely didn’t get their investment back after the album tanked. The funny part is both girls sold about the same. (but Toya with zero promo). I still love a lot of songs from “Fantasy Ride”. Best songs: “Like a surgeon”, “G is for Girl”, “Work”.

#12. R. KELLY: Untitled 3/5
This is the album I’m currently jamming. I didn’t expect it to be this good since I don’t like the single “Number One”. The best songs are the one where R. Kelly stays true to himself and not when he tries to match today’s current standard in music.
Best tracks: “Be my #2″, “Religious”, “Echo”

#11. RIHANNA: Rated R 3.1/5
I like this album. I could’ve charted it a little higher but the thing is I got tired of it pretty quick. It’s a very coherent album. She can’t perform for shit but her producers makes everything sounds good.
Best songs: “Russian roulette”, “Rude Boy”, “Photographs”, “Cold Case Love”
