When most of us are just getting impatient for the HIGHLY anticipated LeToya’s new album she sat down with Ndgo and revealed some information. Read the interview below…

Celebrities aren’t allowed to be human.

At least that’s the perception. With cameras and paparazzi constantly in their faces, questions rapidly being thrown at them, making other people’s dream a reality, and the invasion of personal space all the time — the pressures of being ‘on’ is never-ending.

“It could be the first time someone is meeting you and they’re not going to understand, ‘Oh Toya’s having a bad day.’ They see that as this is who ‘LeToya Luckett’ is,” says entertainer and spokesperson LeToya Luckett.

Unfortunately, for celebrities, the human characteristic of “having a bad day” is not allowed in their realm of work. So the look, image, and attitude need to always appear in tact.

But LeToya brushes it off with “it comes along with the territory.” And she’s fine with that. This is the life she chose.

When meeting R&B singer-songwriter/actress LeToya Luckett, immediately you receive the “home girl-B(est)F(riends)F(orever)-vibe.” Her tall and lean stature poses a down-to-earth stride and she smiles genuinely. She and her talent agent, Everly, appear as childhood girlfriends laughing while exiting the elevator of Chicago’s W Hotel into a crowd of high school prom goers.

She’s cool.

“I want to be a relatable person,” she says, as we get comfortable in her driver’s SUV. “I am a human being, so I want to come across that way.”

It’s her relatable persona and style that enabled LeToya to become the face of Luster’s Pink Brand Smooth Touch Product Line. Since July 2010, Luckett’s picture and signature have appeared on the Limited Edition Pink Brand Smooth Touch New Growth Relaxer Kits.

Recently, the former Destiny’s Child member and now successful solo artist made a special two-hour appearance at Wal-Mart in Evergreen Park hosted by WGCI radio personality Consuella Williams to meet, take pictures, and sign autographs with fans and consumers of Luster’s Pink Brand Products.

Guests received gift bags with free Luster Products and one lucky fan was rewarded with $75 worth of Luster’s Pink Brand Smooth Touch Hair Care.

LeToya said, ” The great thing is I love doing things like this, the signing with Wal-Mart, speaking to young girls about different things, self-esteem, loving yourself and actually being able to go out and talk about the product, how I relate to it and what it does for my hair.”

One thing that attracted LeToya to the Luster’s family is the fact that it is a family-based product and LeToya Luckett is a proclaimed “family girl.”
As one who grew up in the hair salon and the era of the ain’t-too-proud-to-[brag] “kitchen stylist”, LeToya knows and expresses the connection with getting your first relaxer and even learning to do it yourself. She was 11-years-old when she received her first relaxer and “hoooneyÉwhat! First, of all it was the biggest day of my life. You couldn’t tell me anything,” she laughs.

“Relaxer kits have always been important to me because, one, you can get the wrong one for your hair and it’s over. It’ll change your texture, thin your hair out; but with this product, it’s perfect for all types of hair, and they have something for everybody.”

It’s a foggy and humid Friday evening in Chicago, but LeToya’s hair looks absolutely amazing — healthy, shiny, bouncy, with curls adorning her mane.

“Honestly, what helps my hair is the Shine Polish and the Sheen Spray. It’s an organic product, but there’s something within the product that shields against humidity.”

Between filming in New Orleans for the HBO drama series Treme to handling retail business for her Lady L Boutique in Houston, Texas, the southern belle shares that the “Go Glitz Olive Oil Sheen Spray” works wonders on her long tresses. “You don’t understand what it does for me because in L.A. we don’t have humidity so I can curl my hair and it stays, but when I go home it’s a problem, so the spray sheen definitely helps with that because it’s not heavy and it helps to not weigh the hair down.”

Luster Products aims to be that instant gratifying beauty line that provides African-American girls with “red-carpet, camera-ready” healthy and shiny hair.

“My fanbase is girls who use this product. African-American girls who are looking at who’s on the red carpet. They see these styles and want to do this and everybody can’t afford to go to a hair salon and be charged $200 for a hairstyle that’s going to last three days,” she says.

With the relaxer kits, you are able to do it yourself by carefully reading and following the directions. “As long as you pay attention to the directions it holds up the same and still gives you that hair salon and red carpet look,” Luckett says.

LeToya Luckett and Luster’s Smooth Touch exemplifies the style conscious chic with an eye for glamour and hip hop flair.

0602nmusic 02 LETOYA GEARING FOR A "VERY GROOVY, VERY R&B" 3RD ALBUMWhen she’s not hitting the road to promote hair care or in New Orleans filming or taking acting classes, 30-year-old Luckett is in the studio pursuing her passion of music and currently working on her third solo album scheduled for a September release. “It’s very groovy. Very R&B,” she dishes.
The thing that fans love about LeToya is her honesty, vulnerability, and poised strength in music. Her re-emergence to the music scene in 2006 was an anticipated and satisfying surprise not only for fans but for the artist as well, as she celebrated the success of LeToya, her self-titled debut, with platinum selling ratings and leading single, Torn.

To follow-up the success, she teamed with writing genius Ne-Yo for the song Not Anymore and then hit airwaves with the single Regret, which features the animated voice of rapper Ludacris. “The thing I love about Regret is that it’s a timeless record, in my opinion — the delivery. I think (the new album) is where I left off with Regret, but bigger.”

Through her music, movies, and in-store and club appearances, LeToya makes sure that she is connecting with her fans. So much so, she even allows you to literally party with her.

She shares, “Girl, I have so many Twitter BFF’s,” she laughs. “And it was so funny because one of them, their dream was to come and meet me. I was celebrating my birthday and they wanted to celebrate their birthday, too, so they were like, ‘Can I please come and meet you at the club’ Everybody was scared like, ‘You don’t know this person,’ and I was like, ‘I have security with me, I’ll take my chances.’ But anytime I can share somebody’s birthday with them then that’s perfectly fine.”

LeToya Luckett is definitely the home girl from around the way and cares to do nothing but expand and share her story through love songs and being in the community speaking to young girls–and even party!

She adds, “I don’t want to be untouchable.”
