JONES was at the Helen Mills Theater in New York City Wednesday night for the official launch party announcing LeToya Luckett as the new face of Luster’s Pink Brand Smooth Touch given in partnership with the relaunch of Vibe Vixen.
DJ Beverly Bond spinned tunes from Drake to James Brown as New York industry insiders and tastemakers mixed and mingled in celebration of Luckett’s new milestone.
The 29-year-old Grammy Award winning artist shared her excitement with the crowd on being the new face of the leading African-American owned and operated haircare brand . “Apart of why I love Luster is because they are a family.” Luckett adds. “To be able to walk through grocery stores, pharmacies and drug stores and see my face on a box–I would have never imagined anything like that happening.”
JONESMag.com spoke to the Houston native about her favorite Luster’s products–of which she assures she uses, and details on her upcoming album.
“I love the ‘Reason to Gloss Shine Polish’ and the ‘Go Glitz Olive Oil Sheen Spray.’ They’re not heavy and it doesn’t weigh my hair down.”Luckett shares, “I’m just so happy to be with the Luster brand, they are my family.”
Luckett wore a blue-cyan Nicole Miller dress and a stunning silver neckpiece from the Envy boutique in Atlanta. The singer topped off her look off with silver studded Christian Louboutins.
Dishing on her favorite designers, Luckett tells JONESMag.com, “I love Alexander McQueen, Zac Posen and Gucci.”
But if you think Luckett will be front row at her favorite designer’s shows at New York Fashion Week, guess again. “I’ll be busy working on my third studio album,” says Luckett. “I’m staying in my R&B lane but with a more uptempo sound.” The singer even reveals she’s working with the legendary Babyface among other hot producers. “I don’t have a set date for the release but expect the album to drop sometime in 2011.”
JONES congratulates Letoya Luckett on her new spokesperson endorsement and forthcoming album.
