OMG The Prophet , Necole Bitchie and Bossip are reporting that Mathew Knowles is paying major radio stations to boycott LeToya. I knew something was going on right there. It was so weird that Hot 97, the biggest Hip Hop and R&B radio in the country (home of Angie Martinez) would completely ignore the hit “Regret” (which is currently the #5 most played song in the country on urban radios) and act like it doesn’t exist. I am so not surprised as they never ever played her and now we know why! I know a lot of people who’ve been requesting the hell outta this song to them and they’ve been acting deaf.  This is really crazy! These guys ain’t right. I blame Mathew for doing what he’s doing but I blame them even more for accepting this money/trip or whatever.

I am just pissed off with this shady business and I’ve been closer to God lately so I feel I have to throw this out there. I’m going to give you a little more of my experience. So…. Mathew is in a perpetual fight. I don’t understand what he’s trying to prove but I guess that’s what keeps his life exciting. You think he would have moved on by now but on the contrary, he’s totally obsessed with this Letoya Luckett girl. Wasting time making sure radio stations don’t play her songs, and particularly right now making sure “Regret” doesn’t get any bigger than it already is.

I absolutely don’t understand why he thinks her success would overshadow Beyonce’s. Beyonce is aware of what’s going on but she’s not saying anything to stop her dad. I told her to say something but she said to me “I trust my dad”. Anyway, look at the Urban radio charts, Letoya is #5. That’s a pretty good number but you can notice that the most important radio stations aren’t playing it. Thanks to who? You guessed it right. Rumors you’ve probably heard before are true. Mathew is paying these stations off to boycott her. These expenses are covered up as a trip to go see Beyonce’s tour for review. What’s nice is that these stations’ music directors can pick two to three dates anywhere in the world and travel for free. Mathew of course pays for travel expenses as well as $850 “courtesy checks” for…. meals.

The funny part is some of them just get the free vacation and don’t bother showing up at Beyonce’s concert. Hot 97 was not hard to convince thanks to their ties with Jay-Z. It was a little harder to convince Power 106 and Jamn 945 (asking for bigger courtesy checks) but in the end they accepted the offer. Thumbs up go to KMEL who almost spit at my face and refused to collaborate.

I’m putting this to light because I’m tired of this payola bullshit. You might find all of this outrageous but these are common practices in the music industry… and this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Let’s  investigate this case and take a look at what’s going on…

Here in the charts, Yes Toya IS the #5 most played song in the US radios that plays hip-hop and R&B.

But some radios  just rather get freebies and $$$ rather than looking at these numbers or hell, just take their listeners’s requests.

Let’s take a look at Hot 97′s playlist (New York’s #1 Hip Hop and R&B Station, Probably THE radio with the most influence in this country): So we have …Jay-Z, Jay-Z, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Jay-Z and Jay-Z. No LeToya duh. Can anyone else get some airplay dammit? Other artists have families to feed. Spread the wealth around people, spread the wealth around! How much you need to play LeToya? We, the fans, can start raising money for you.

Let’s take a look at Power 106, #1 HipHop R&B station in Los Angeles. Cassie WTF? That Jamie flop song Digital girl? WTF! Where LeToya at?? …No LeToya. That’s the checks right there again?

Let’s go take a look at Jamn 94.5, Boston’s “#1 for Hip Hop and R&B”. Cute playlist… but NO LETOYA. I can give you double of what Mathew gave you to boycott her. That works for you?
