As promised we’re giving you more details on the ‘Lady Love” album which will be released in about a month from now. Today I will cover the song “Over” which is one of my favorite on the album. It is a ballad and to give you an idea on what it sounds like, I’d say that it’s a mixture of “Obvious” and what could’ve fit the slow jams section of “The Writing’s On The Wall” album. The harp used in the beat reminds me of Jamie Foxx’s “Can I take you home”. Not that the song really sounds like these but trying my best to describe it to you without letting you hear it.
The harmonies are SICK and orgasmic. The song is pure R&B like it was done in the 90s. You get the original Destiny’s Child vibe in it (which I love) and you can definitely tell she contributed to that group as after she got kicked out they completely lost that sound. LeToya brings back to life the ol’ Destiny’s Child with this track while incorporating it to today’s current productions.
Her voice is hella sexy, especially this part “and you couldn’t say nothing/ you will try to make up something” where she’s using her lower register.
The song is about warning her man and that if she finds out that he is cheating on her “it would be OOOOOHVEEEER”
Here are a sneak peak of the lyrics which I will post in full soon.
It would be oooooooover
There would be no need to beg me baby please
cause you (…)
Don’t forget your keys
I’m telling you
It would be ooooooover
No get back, no sorry, can’t fix that, just over
What if you forgot to throw away the gift receipt from Tifany? – (You will try to make up something)
What if I had pictures and a DVD of everything you do? - (You will try to make up something)
LeToya sets quality standards very high when it comes to her music and it shows. She’s placing that bar extremely high for other current R&B contenders.
Rating: 5/5
